1. Jimmy Kimmel's big moment. Al Jazeera will face hurdles.

After the coffee. Before figuring out why I say yes when I should say no. The Skinny: I was watching an episode of "The Office" last night (guessing it was a rerun) and the character of Angela came thisclose to saying the dreaded "f-word." Can you get...

  3. 'American Idol' recap: Charlotte, N.C., shows its stuff

You know that big blow-up between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey we've been reading about for months? "American Idol" finally showed it to us Wednesday night, as the auditions zoomed through Charlotte, N.C., and it turns out it was actually between Minaj and the whole panel. The tiff was touched off by a Keith Urban comment and it was a Randy Jackson dig that prompted Minaj to get up and leave the judging table. But I guess "Minaj clashes with all the judges" wouldn't have made for good "catfight" headlines.

  11. Golden Globe original song nominees -- hear them here

First, a caveat: Back in January, this year's Golden Globe for original song went to Madonna's "Masterpiece," a wan electro ballad so forgettable that we here at Pop & Hiss had to YouTube it just to remember what it sounded like. (And now? Forgotten again.)

  21. Songs hope to hit a high note at Oscars again

The Academy Awards haven't been kind to songs of late. The last few years, the category has been treated as an after-thought, with either one film dominating the slate of nominees or voters struggling to find five songs worthy of contention.
