3. Yoko Blamed Paul for Beatles Breakup

Yoko Ono is often blamed for breaking up the Beatles but in an interview Ono recorded back in 1987, she actually blamed Paul McCartney for the split. In the interview with industry exec Joe Smith, Ono said John Lennon was “feeling good about” the breakup, but admitted there was some tension in the band at the time. “Each one of them [was] getting independent. John, in fact, was not the first who wanted to leave the Beatles. [We saw] Ringo [Starr] one night with Maureen [Starkey Tigrett], and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George [Harrison] was next, and then John,” she said. “Paul [McCartney] was the only one trying to hold the Beatles together. But the other three thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like." She also said that after the split there was some tension between her and John because the singer missed his bandmates and "expected all that to be replaced by me."
