The mission-revival-style Cassadega Hotel has been the gathering spot for mediums and psychics since it was built as a winter retreat in the 1920s, after a fire destroyed the original hotel in Cassadaga, built in the late 1800s. There have been ghost sightings in Room 22, seances, table-tipping seminars and metaphysical workshops in the front parlor.<br>

Clerks at the hotel often joke that Room 22 is double-booked. An Irish tenor purportedly lived and died there in the 1930s. According to local lore, his presence is marked by a strong smell of cigars and gin.<br>
