The rumba-flamenco sounds of the Gipsy Kings come to The Pearl at the Palms on Aug. 2. Although their songs are in Spanish with an Andalusian accent, the group hails from the gypsy settlements in Arles and Montpelier in the south of France. The Reyes and Baliardo families, led by singers Nicolas Reyes and Manitas de Plata, sold millions of records in the 1960s and ’70s. The vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals are the trademarks of the band, making Gipsy Kings the biggest-selling French act in the United States.
