It’s hard to believe that James Nares’ STREET — a mesmerizing, 61-minute high definition video, shot in one week on the streets of New York — wasn’t filmed in 3-D. Nares, 59, a British-born artist, was inspired in part by...

  5. Thurston Moore performs at the Wadsworth Atheneum on Jan. 28

Thurston Moore, best known as the guitarist from Sonic Youth guitarist and our close neighbor to the north (Northampton, to be precise), released the Beck Hansen-produced solo album Demolished Thoughts, an acoustic chamber-pop offering that's lovely in places and vaguely menacing in others (listen to "Mina Loy" when you get a chance), last year. Moore plays the Wadsworth's Aetna Theater, an intimate space that's perfect for acoustic indie rock, on Saturday, with the experimental NYC/CT band Prana-Bindu opening.

  7. The End of Daniel Street: The venue that put Milford on the map closes

Nothing lasts forever, especially when it comes to venues offering live, high-quality, original music. Milford's Daniel Street Club will be departing the Earthly realm on January 1 and will be converted into a pizza joint (the building itself was sold). In lieu of flowers, mourners are asked to purchase tickets and attend one of the final shows:

  15. The Suicide Dolls Record Their Debut CD

Michelle Montavon and Brian Albano are freaking out about several things. First, the bad news: they're still reeling from last week's announcement that Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon are breaking up. The split between Sonic Youth's lead dude and dudette might be a news item for most folks, but it hits close to home for Montavon and Albano, whose punky romance is cut from a similar mold. The New London husband and wife co-founded the Suicide Dolls in 2002, but they've been a couple since high school. Moore and Gordon — one of the few happy rock couples out there — projected a fusion of stability and creativity that Montavon and Albano found appealing.
