( Courtesy Everett Collection / September 23, 1998 ) Actor Dick York played the original Darrin on the show Bewitched from 1964-1972, quitting after five seasons and being replaced by Dick Sargent. York suffered from a back injury and addiction to painkillers. At one point during the filming of season five, York collapsed on the Bewitched set and was rushed to a hospital. From his hospital bed, he resigned from the show to devote himself to recovery. |
