  3. 'American Idol' recap: Top 7 try to rock out

It was "rock week" on "American Idol" as the top 7 took on rock 'n' roll classics, with varying results.
It was "rock week" on "American Idol" as the top 7 took on rock 'n' roll classics, with varying results. It also happened to be injury week, with top talents Kree Harrison and Candice Glover singing through their pain. Harrison had a pinched nerve...

  5. 'American Idol': Amber rocks it best

They sure do say "love" a lot on "<a href="http://www.americanidol.com/">American Idol,</a>" and I don't love that gushing.
    Staff writer
They sure do say "love" a lot on "American Idol," and I don't love that gushing. I also don't love forcing contestants to sing song styles they’ll never perform. Rock night was a bad night for the last two men left. Burnell Taylor was in the...

  7. 'American Idol' recap: Devin Velez heads home

Poor Devin Velez. He didn't deserve to get kicked off "American Idol" just yet &ndash; certainly not before that cheesy amateur Lazaro Arbos -- but that's what the "Idol" voters did Thursday night. And the judges, who can't use their one save of the season without agreeing unanimously, did not opt to yank him back and give him another shot next week.

  9. 'American Idol': Another one bites the dust

    And then there were seven.

And then there were seven. SPOILER ALERT: "American Idol" continued its march toward crowning a female winner this season. The bottom three finishers Thursday were the remaining men. The lowest vote-getter was Devin Velez. He sang for his life in...

  11. 'American Idol' recap: Top 8 tackle Motor City music

The "American Idol" top 8 tackled the music of Detroit on Wednesday. That turned out to mean mostly Motown, but also, incongruously, a song by Madonna -- "Michigan's own Material Girl," Ryan Seacrest reminded us &ndash; and a countrified version of it at that.

  13. 'American Idol': Amber soars, Angie crashes

Could a woman be ejected Thursday on "American Idol"?
    Staff writer
Could a woman be ejected Thursday on "American Idol"? Angie Miller, considered a front-runner, gave Wednesday's worst performance on an ill-advised rock version of "Shop Around." Viewers probably will save her, but her performances this week and last...

  15. Interview: 'American Idol' Scotty McCreery is not your average college kid

<span id="tinymce" class="mceContentBody " dir="ltr">Scotty McCreery's</span> decision to enroll at North Carolina State University last fall might not have created as big of a buzz in the media as James Franco's and Emma Watson's pursuit of a college education, but that doesn't mean the 2011 &ldquo;American Idol&rdquo; winner has been able to blend in easily his freshman year at the Raleigh, N.C., school.

  17. 'American Idol' recap: White-guy winning streak ends

The "American Idol" voters finally had enough of Paul Jolley. No sooner had Jolley been informed that a town in Tennessee had named a day (last Saturday, March 16 -- so I guess he missed it?) after him, than he got word he'd landed in the bottom three. He was soon joined there by Devin Velez and (sadly) Amber Holcomb. But the latter two soon discovered they had survived to sing another week: It was Jolley who had come in dead last -- ending the long run of white-guy "Idol" winners.

  19. 'American Idol' recap: The Top 9 tackle the Fab Four

The nine remaining "American Idol" contestants tackled the music of the Beatles Wednesday night, despite the fact that -- honestly, what is the world coming to? -- some of them had never heard the songs they'd sung before.

  21. Will Idol Judges Perform?

<span style="font-size: small;">The competition is quite intense on FOX&rsquo;s American Idol, as the show is getting closer to its next winner. Phillip Phillips and Bon Jovi recently performed, which helped the rest of the world forget about the stressful live results for a few minutes. But, don&rsquo;t hold your breath if you plan on seeing the Idol judges&rsquo; perform this season. Keith Urban believes he is the only one interested! &ldquo; We got asked that early on in one of the press conferences early on- would we be up for singing. And I threw my hand up and said, &lsquo;I&rsquo;m up for it lets go.&rsquo; It was met with an arousing silence, but I&rsquo;m going to keep poking at Randy [Jackson] to see if we can put a little band together &ndash; because I would love to do it! I think it would be fun and I think it would feel quite natural for us.&rdquo; Find out who stays, and who goes home on FOX.</span>
