  1. A potluck kind of year

    If only it were so easy to pithily proclaim 2012 as the Year of the (fill-in-the-blank). But there's really no one thread that neatly ties together the Chicago restaurant scene these last 12 months. A restaurant that put Chicago on the culinary map 25 years ago closed its doors. Doughnuts became "a thing." Digging up mushrooms from the forest preserve took on high status.

  3. Coming-soon restaurants in East Lakeview

    In April, Dale Levitski's French bistro Frog N Snail opened at 3124 N. Broadway. In May, quick-serve Brazilian Bowl (3204 N. Broadway) opened its doors, followed by Troy Mediterranean Grill (2902 N. Broadway). Now a slew of new restaurants have plans to join the reinvigorated dining scene on North Broadway in Lakeview, a stretch that has been ruled by fast-casual spots and bars in recent years.
