Toby Huss of the new AMC series “Halt and Catch Fire” has listed a historic home in Highland Park at $850,000. With its boxy design, center dormer window and wide front porch, the American Foursquare-style house, built in 1907, is typical of the style that took hold between the late 1890s and 1930s. Like so much of L.A. housing, a peep into property records reveals a slice of Hollywood history. The place was home to prolific screenwriter Kathryn Scola in the 1950s. She co-wrote “Baby Face” (1933), starring Barbara Stanwyck. The restored home includes such period details as oak flooring, built-ins, two fireplaces with vintage tile work and original hardware....
