  1. 'Vagina,' once unmentionable, has become a fashionable term

When Eve Ensler opened her play "The Vagina Monologues" off-Broadway in 1996, people who called the box office to order tickets were afraid to name it. Motorists complained about highway billboards advertising it. Some newscasters wouldn't utter the title of the show.

  7. 'Men at Work' isn't very ambitious

TBS, whose slogan is "Very Funny," has built its house out of sitcoms — most of them reruns (currently including "Seinfeld," "The Office," "Friends," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "The Big Bang Theory"), but with an increasing emphasis on the new. It's like TV Land for viewers whose sense of nostalgia is rooted in the '80s, '90s and early '00s: a demographic that includes the characters in its new original series, "Men at Work."

What's so funny about the TV networks' new fall schedules? Everything — or at least that's the hope of programmers who unveiled their new lineups to advertisers this week in New York and have gone cuckoo for comedy in a way not seen in at least 15 years.
