Before a later entry on this list came out, many people regarded Sam Raimi's surprisingly excellent sequel as the best superhero movie ever made. The main attraction was the miraculous casting of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus. He brings pathos and gravitas to a role that could have easily been one-note.
