If the week goes much longer, half of the employed actors in Hollywood will be working on Robin Swicord's adaptation of "The Jane Austen Book Club."
Earlier in the week, Maria Bello, Emily Blunt, Jimmy Smits, Amy Brenneman, Hugh Dancy, Maggie Grace and Kevin Zegers were announced for the ensemble cast. Now Variety is reporting that Marc Blucas, Kathy Baker and Lynn Redgrave will appear in the Sony Pictures Classic release as well.
The film, based on the apparently popular novel by Karen Joy Fowler, involves a group of women (and one man) who get together to read Jane Austen novels and talk about their loves. Unfortunately, when it comes to giving any indication of who Blucas, Baker and Redgrave will be playing, Variety is utterly useless. Oh well.
While his feature credits may include "The Alamo" and "First Daughter," Blucas may still be best known as monster-fighting Riley Finn from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Baker won a trio of Emmys for her "Picket Fences" work and was most recently seen in "All the King's Men" and "Spring Break Shark Attack."
Redgrave has Oscar nominations for "Georgy Girl" and "Gods and Monsters."
