Jon Shaner joined FOX 17 in August 2006 as a Meteorologist on FOX 17 Morning News. Before coming to Grand Rapids he worked at WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana from 2003-2006 as a weekend weather anchor. Prior to that, he was a weekend weather anchor at WOTV-41 in Battle Creek from 2002-2003. Jon was born and raised in the Kalamazoo Area, and graduated from Mattawan High School. Jon earned a BA from Ball State University, where he studied Telecommunications, Operational Meteorology/Climatology and Spanish. He pursued other coursework in Meteorology and Climatology at Oxford University, Portland State University, and the USDA Graduate School. In 2007 Jon received the Television Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. Jon is married with a daughter and two sons. In his spare time, you'll find him volunteering, playing golf, cooking, and playing music.
