I have ties to the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut State University System. I've lectured at both, have a cartoon collection at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center at UConn, have taught a class in editorial cartooning at Eastern Connecticut State University, delivered the commencement address at Central Connecticut State University and was awarded the President's Medal at Southern Connecticut State University. In other words. I have a warm spot in my heart for all.
But an observer would conclude that the University of Connecticut does indeed get the lion's share of money and attention. The consolidation of the state university system with the community college system under one board of regents certainly doesn't help CSU's cause.

I suppose if the Connecticut State University schools had nationally-known, ESPN-televised winning Division 1 basketball and football teams, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
