A 28-year-old man is dead after a one-car crash Thursday night in Deep River and the driver has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
A 2003 Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound on Route 9 near exit 5 when the driver, Mark Glowac of Essex, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guard rail just before 9 p.m., police said. The car finally stopped in the wooded area in the median of the highway, according to police.
Gregory Paul Dee, 24, of Deep River was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. Glowac was treated and released at Medical Center-Shoreline in Essex.
Glowac was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
The accident is still under investigation, police said.
