Groups of students at Hartford's High School Inc. — an insurance and finance academy — got an inside look at the businesses that make up the Insurance Capital.

As part of a job shadow program, 89 students met with employees and learned about the day-to-day operations at Cigna Corp., The Hartford Financial Services Group, The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co., KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Prudential Retirement and The Travelers Cos.

The job shadow program is tied to business courses offered at the Asylum Avenue high school. The point is to bridge academic concepts with practical uses in the workplace, and for students to inquire about a company's culture.
