Nigeria Demands Boston Museum Return Art Looted In 1897 Massacre
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston recently received a gift of a collection of African artifacts, bronze and ivory sculptures, from New York banker Robert Owen Lehman. As it turns out, they had been looted during a massacre in Benin by British troops in 1897. So now the government of Nigeria is demanding them back. Read the story here.
