U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito is ready to seek a seventh term representing West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.

The Kanawha County Republican filed her candidacy papers Friday, a day before the election deadline. But her federal reports show she’s already raised more than $1 million for her re-election campaign.

Capito will face her first GOP primary opponent since she began running for Congress in 2000.

Del. Jonathan Miller of Berkeley County filed for her 2nd District seat instead of for a fourth term in the House of Delegates. The 27-year-old began his federal campaign last year. He had $4,500 on hand as of Dec. 31.

Three Democrats have filed in that district, including Howard Swint of Charleston, Dugald Brown of Martinsburg and William McCann of Jefferson County.
