CHARLESTON, W.Va.—
U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito is ready to seek a seventh term representing West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. The Kanawha County Republican filed her candidacy papers Friday, a day before the election deadline. But her federal reports show she’s already raised more than $1 million for her re-election campaign.
Del. Jonathan Miller of Berkeley County filed for her 2nd District seat instead of for a fourth term in the House of Delegates. The 27-year-old began his federal campaign last year. He had $4,500 on hand as of Dec. 31.
Three Democrats have filed in that district, including Howard Swint of Charleston, Dugald Brown of Martinsburg and William McCann of Jefferson County.
