David Angle Wolfinger Jr., 86, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Meritus Medical Center.
Born Monday, March 28, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late David Angle Wolfinger Sr. and the late Edna Mae (Shilling) Wolfinger. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jetta Lorraine Wolfinger, in 1965.
He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1945 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the later part of World War II. He was employed with C & P Telephone, retiring in 1981 after 32 years of service. He was a life member of the Alsatia Club, and also an active member of the Funkstown American Legion Post 211.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Cecilia Wolfinger; one son, David Angle Wolfinger III of Cresco, Iowa; stepdaughters, Carol A. Moleskie of Greencastle, Pa., and Nancy L. Shrader of Ephrata, Pa.; sister, Margaret Weaver of Farmington Hills, Mich.; grandson, Chris Moleskie of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Erica Boozel of Hagerstown; great-grandsons, Jack Moleskie and Bennett Moleskie; great-granddaughter, Ava Boozel.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Louella Wolfinger, and a sister, Mildred Christian.
Services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. G. Stanley Steele officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
