Elizabeth "Betty" Forrest, 72, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Sharon.
Born in Mahoning Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Christine Valek.
Betty was a graduate of Summit Hill High School in Summit Hill, Pa. She studied to be an X-ray technician in Philadelphia.
She was a member of Washington County Homemakers and Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, a 4-H leader in Maugansville and a member of the choir at the Presbyterian church. She formerly was employed as assistant store manager at High's Dairy. She then worked in payment processing at Citicorp until her retirement.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Sharon Forrest, and her son, Andrew; a daughter, Linda Horst, and husband, Mike, and their children, Kelly, Matthew and Christopher, all of Baltimore; a son, Mark Forrest, and wife, Beth, and their children, Benjamin, Thomas and Timothy, of Hagerstown; three sisters, Anna Cinicola, Christine Carnish and Ann Marie Reinhart, all of Summit Hill; a brother, John Valek of Egg Harbor City, N.J.; seven nephews; and two nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judith May Valek.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795. Interment will be Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 1 p.m. in Summit Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to American Cancer Society; to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, NPCF, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502; or to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
