Evelyn Amelia (Elliott) Ruth, 92, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Heartlands Assisted Living of Severna Park, Md.
Born Monday, Oct. 25, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Guy Middleton Elliott and the late Eva Marie (Stouffer) Elliott.
She graduated from Hagerstown High School, class of 1938. She was employed with the Washington County Board of License Commissioners for many years as a secretary, and Paramount Baptist Church, as the director of music and choir director. She was a member of the Washington County Duckpin Bowling Association.
She is survived by her son, Terrence A. Ruth of Severn, Md.; daughter-in-law, Shiela G. Ruth; sister, Betty Marie (Elliott) Hussong of Denver, Colo.; and brother, Donald Stouffer Elliott of Blacksburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Albert Ruth; sister, Flora Louise (Elliott) Anderson; and brother, Edward Ernest Elliott.
Committal services will be Monday, April 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Larry Rickard officiating.
Family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, on Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or to Harundale Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 1020 Eastway, Glen Burnie, MD 21060.
