Mr. John Clyde “Jack” Douglas, 84, of Frederick, died Saturday, July 9, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of B. Jane Shadrock Douglas of Frederick.
Born Jan. 9, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of the late Harry Clyde and Mildred Routzahn.
He served in the Army in World War II. Mr. Douglas graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1945.
He was associated for 31 years with the automobile industry, working for dealers in Frederick and Montgomery counties. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was the federal contract security officer for 13 years, serving the Department of Energy in Germantown, and the Public Health Service in Rockville.
He was a member of the Frederick Junior Chamber of Commerce from 1958 to 1963, serving on the board of directors, as vice president and secretary.
He was a charter member of the Evening Sertoma Club, a member of Columbia Lodge 58 A.F. & A. Masons, the Scottish Rite 32 Degree Ali Ghan Temple, Cumberland, Shepherd’s Unit, Sayara Unit, treasurer of the Tall Cedars, Frederick Forest 132, past president of the Hagerstown Shrine, AMVETS Post 9, Middletown, the American Legion Post 11, the New Thurmont Dance Club, and the B.P.O. ELKS 378 of Hagerstown.
Surviving besides his wife at home are a son, Roger Douglas and wife Barbara of Hagerstown; three daughters, Marlin Ann Delauter and husband Donald of Frederick, Connie Lee Douglas-Tipton and husband John of Reno, Nev., and Theresa Lynn Kline and significant other Tom of Walkersville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry P. Douglas; and his stepfather, Roger F. Routzahn.
Mr. Douglas is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, PA, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. The funeral home will be open for visiting from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the funeral home with Debbie Morton officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
