Keedysville to hold town election
The 2012 Keedysville election for registered voters will be held Monday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Keedysville Town Hall, at 19 S. Main St., Keedysville. The election will be for mayor and one council seat.
Rowland to speak May 3
Herald-Mail columnist and author Tim Rowland will talk about his book, “Strange and Obscure Stories of the Civil War,” Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at the Sharpsburg Library. After his talk, Rowland will sign books that will be available for sale.
Basket bingo planned
The Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold a basket bingo Saturday at the fire hall. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and bingo begins at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for a nine-pack. Specials, raffles and extra papers will be available.

Cinco de Mayo at St. Mark’s
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the new parish hall Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those ages 13 and older are invited to attend for a $10 donation. There will be a Mariachi band, belly dancing, drum-stick dance and Zumba. DJ Negro will provide Cinco de Mayo music. Light refreshments will be served.
All proceeds go to St. Mark’s building fund.

Zumba classes offered
Spring/summer Zumba classes will be offered at St. Mark’s Parish Hall, Lappans Road, Boonsboro, through the third week of August. Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. classes each evening.
A 15-class punch card costs $30 and can be used at any class at any time at St. Mark’s Parish Hall.
Instructor Liz Martz will offer Zumba classes at Rockland Woods Elementary on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:15 to 6 p.m. from May 7 to Aug. 8 (no classes May 28 and July 4). Classes cost $40 for Washington County residents, $50 for noncounty residents and $32 for those ages 55 and older.

BHS class plans reunion
The Boonsboro High Class of 1977 will hold a reunion dinner meeting Wednesday, May 16, at the Elks Lodge in Hagerstown at 6 p.m. The class reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Elks Lodge.

Rabies clinic planned
The Humane Society of Washington County will hold a rabies, microchip and dog-license clinic Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boonsboro High School in the back parking lot.
Dogs, cats and ferrets must be leashed or must be in carriers. Animals must be at least 4 months of age to be vaccinated. Owners must bring a previous rabies certificate to receive a three-year vaccination and certificate. Vaccinations cost $7 per animal. Microchips cost $15 per animal.
