The son of Daniel and Bertha Wolfinger Boward, Lawrence Mark Boward was born Sept. 6, 1923 in Reid, Md., and grew up in Hagerstown, Md.
A lifetime member of First Christian Church, Mark graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1941.
Mark worked for Fairchild Industries until he joined the U.S. Army Air Force. He then attended George Washington University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in foreign affairs, and met his future wife, Jean Brandt (Boward). They were married in 1949 and moved to Bethesda, Md., where he worked for Dynaelectron Corp. and Marine Air Supply.
In his free time, Mark was an avid tennis player and gardener.
Mark passed away June 20, 2012, at Williamsport Retirement Village. He was the husband of the late Jean Boward; and the brother of Louise (Leo) Banzhoff, Miriam (Paul) Norment, the late Roscoe and Marian Boward, and the late Rosalie Mitchell.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Curl; son-in-law, Christopher Curl; his two grandchildren, Christopher Mitchell Curl and Laura "Missy" Curl; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, at noon, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 5500 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD 20816. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Joseph Gawler's Sons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
