Lena M. Reid, 87, of Williamsport, and formerly of Frederick, Md., passed away Monday, April 30, 2012, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born July 27, 1924, in Goldsboro, N.C., and raised in Farmville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Luther L. Nash and Mollie (Faris) Nash Madison.
Lena retired with 21 years of service as a teller with Citizens Bank of Maryland in Hyattsville, Md. She was later employed by Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and The Bon-Ton in Frederick.
She was a member of Frederick Church of the Brethren and was a volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Nelson F. Reid of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Richard M. Reid of Falling Waters, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Nelson F. Reid Jr. of California, Jeanice Chastain of Indiana, Jodi Portera Bergeron of Louisiana, Elaine Wolford of Greencastle, Pa., Corey E. Reid and Dustin J. Reid, both of California, and Virginia Reid of LaVale, Md.; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson E. Reid, in 1979; one sister, Elizabeth Hasselbarth; and one brother, Luther M. Nash.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before services at the funeral home.
