Jesus cares little about politics
To the editor:
This responds to Mr. Guessford's letter of October 29. If Jesus Christ were running for the Democrat nomination, how would He fare? Thus the real head of the Democratic National Committee, George Soros, and the leader of the state-run media, Chris Matthews, would ask him some simple questions. Let's see how Jesus would do.
Mr. Christ, we sense that you believe in health care for everyone, based on all the sick you've healed. What do you say to this?
Well sir, I am not Mr. Christ. Jesus is who I am, Christ is what I am and that is the Messiah, the Savior of the World. These miracles, signs and wonders bear evidence to that fact and were performed solely for your benefit.
OK Jesus, you say you don't believe in violence. Does that mean you don't believe in the Second Amendment?
True, violence is not the answer. However, my followers are charged to provide for their families and that includes defending them as they ought. To not provide for their families makes them an infidel (1 Timothy 5:8). If everyone followed the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, your earth would be a better place. Sadly, there will be no peace until I return and set up My Kingdom.
OK Jesus, and we'll call you The Christ if you insist, what do you think about the EPA and drilling for oil everywhere on this planet?
Well sir, being a gracious God, I have blessed man, particularly America, with an abundance of resources. Sadly, the EPA has restricted access to these resources, thus the U.S. has been forced to buy oil from nations that actually support terrorists. My Father and I have given man dominion over the earth. But the EPA has protected spotted owls and lesser creatures while the government they work for has allowed the killing of 50,000,000 babies in the womb, whom, as you should know, are the most innocent and defenseless of all of mankind.
Well Christ Jesus, thank you for your time and divine wisdom on these matters. You have made it apparent that you are neither of the GOP or Democrat persuasion, but seek only to do your Father's will, and that we might learn from You.
Well sir, I am glad your eyes have been opened to truth. Before I return to judge the world, I'll leave you with this: If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Traffic calming isn't
To the editor:
To the residents on Summit Avenue where I used to live years ago: You'll be sorry if you allow the city to install traffic calming.
Our nice neighborhood here in Frederick was ruined in 2006 when the City of Frederick installed a traffic circle and seven speed humps on two streets, almost exactly what is being proposed for your neighborhood.
Traffic calming will be ugly, likely devaluing already depressed property values. Not only do they install the humps and circle, they will paint huge lines on the street and install many signs not there today.
It will exasperate drivers and do damage to the suspension of cars that, in the course of years for those living in the neighborhood, drive over humps thousands of times.
