“It’s a real shame to see in the Hagerstown paper this morning about the soldier who was prosecuted ... over in Afghanistan, for killing the citizen. How many citizens did they kill over here in the U.S., on 9/11? That’s a real shame.”
“Boo-hoo, President Obama. He wants change, but only if he gets his way. A real leader would be in the ‘war’ room with his sleeves rolled up, helping to come up with a plan, rather than appearing on TV. He uses Social Security, Medicare and veterans to scare the citizens, so he can ignore the meat of the proposals and the real problem — his need to raise the debt ceiling to continue to be able to spend, spend, spend without ever being responsible. Learn to speak Chinese — you may need it if he’s elected again.”
“I see in Wednesday’s Herald-Mail that the U.S. post office is planning to close one out of 10 local branches. Maybe instead they could raise the rates for the dirt-cheap bulk mail, so it actually pays for itself and reduces the huge amount of junk mail that customers have to dispose of.”

“Leonard Pitts likes to blast Fox News. Well, I watch Fox News, and I hear both sides of the issues, and then I make up my own mind. Sorry, Mr. Pitts, but there are as many free-thinking conservatives as there are free-thinking liberals. The major networks do a better job of reporting the news that Pitts wants to hear. I want to hear both sides.”

“I am not a teacher. I find the disrespect toward teachers in Washington County absolutely appalling. The most disgusting comment yet is the one from the Hagerstown caller who thinks that teachers should send half of their $75,000 salary home to the parents, because the teachers expect the parents to make sure the child’s homework is done. Why on earth did you have children if you weren’t prepared to take on parental responsibilities such as helping your children learn? Teachers in Washington County are way underpaid.”
“I was reading the paper this morning about annexation. I think the city of Hagerstown ought to annex the whole county, the way they spend money. The BOE, pensions, taxes going up, charge you for everything, don’t get nothing free anymore. They pick up the garbage, that’s about the only thing I know of. They ought to annex the whole county, county and the city.”
“I have a child who is a kindergartner, going into kindergarten at Pangborn Elementary School. We live 0.9 of a mile away from there, which does not allow us a bus pick-up to Pangborn Elementary School. Would you like to let your kindergarten child walk 0.9 of a mile to school? No sidewalks half the way there, no crossing guards half the way there, busy traffic. If you would, that’s not me. Transportation will not allow me and has failed me many times to provide my child bus transportation.”
“Can somebody from the city or state or whatever please tell me that there’s an end in sight to the construction on Edgewood? I am so sick of the congestion, and not to mention the orange barrels that have been out there for the last year and a half. Please tell me there’s an end, very soon.”
“All you’re hearing about is the debt ceiling, debt ceiling. Although it has to be raised so the country doesn’t default on its money it’s owed, my question to John Boehner is, where’s the jobs? You promised once you Republicans got control of the House that you would offer a job bill. You haven’t offered anything, nothing. John, where’s the jobs? And the teapots are wanting in there. All they’re worried is saying no to everything.”
“I read in the paper the other day — and I’m also a registered Democrat, but both parties are just a bunch of jokes — but I read in the paper the other day where Gov. O’Malley’s top priority for 2012 is going to be gay marriage. That’s our governor, the state of Maryland’s top priority. All the people out of work, people losing their homes, all the trouble ... and his top priority is gay marriages in 2012. What a joke.”
