Master Gardeners show how to 'Love the Birds'
The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum invites visitors to participate in “Love the Birds,” a garden activity with the Master Gardeners Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the museum.
Master Gardeners will offer tips on cleaning birdfeeders, choosing the right feeders and planting bird-friendly gardens to attract them to a yard.
Families can decorate a wren house and will receive information about wrens and their habits.
The birdhouses are limited to one per family.

Ruritan to hold potpie dinner
District 12 Ruritan, at the corner of Manor Church and Breathedsville roads, will hold an all-you-can-eat potpie dinner Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
The menu includes chicken and ham potpie, choice of applesauce or coleslaw, roll, tea or coffee. Desserts will be sold. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3.50 for children.

Pleasant Valley Citizens to meet
Citizens for the Preservation of Pleasant Valley will meet Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rohrersville Ruritan Schoolhouse off Md. 67. The group will conduct elections and discuss the Hagerstown to Weaverton Rail-Trail.

Senior Idol Contest set for Feb. 18
Weatherman Lou Scally will be the guest emcee at the Senior Idol Contest Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, 14010 Greencastle Pike.
The winner and runner-up will receive cash prizes and represent the county at the Maryland State Senior Idol Contest April 4 at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts in Bowie, Md.
All contestants will receive gift bags.
Tickets cost $5, which are available at the Washington County Commission on Aging at 140 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown.

Sharpsburg Elementary plans full month
The Warrior Club of Sharpsburg Elementary will meet every Monday and Wednesday this month after school from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m.
Volleyball Team No. 1 will play Feb. 13 in the gym and Volleyball Team No. 2 will play after school Monday, Feb. 27.
The Chess Club and Battle of the Books teams will meet every Thursday after school.
Bank Day for students will be held today and the Good News Club meets after school every Friday.
Classrooms will hold Friendship Day Parties Tuesday, Feb. 14, followed by an Anti-Bullying Assembly for students and staff Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 8:30 a.m. An After-School Special will also be held Wednesday to learn about the Science Fair.
The All American Math and Literacy Night Bash will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.
Students will wear red, pink or white for friendship Friday, Feb. 17, for Spirit/Friend Day. Grades two, three, four, and five will participate in Jump Rope for Heart Friday.
Grades one and two will have movie night at the school Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. Students can wear their PJ’s and eat popcorn.
