Roger J. Haupt, 50, of Mount Lena, Md., died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Born July 22, 1962, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Roger L. and June Powell Haupt.
He was a 1980 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
He was employed by Beaver Mechanical for 28 years.
He was a member of Mount Aetna Volunteer Fire Co.
Roger loved NASCAR, and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He also loved football.
He was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Diane Plum Haupt; a daughter, Kathryn “Katy” Haupt of Mount Lena; a brother, Greg Haupt and wife, Tonja, of Hagerstown; nephew, Gerad Haupt and wife, Diane, of Mount Lena; and a niece, Tracee Haupt of Hagerstown.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ron Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Lena Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to help defray funeral expenses may be made to Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
