Legion post hosting Veterans Day ceremony
Antietam 236 American Legion will host a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharpsburg Town Square, Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. Antietam National Battlefield Park Ranger Alann Schmidt will be the guest speaker, accompanied by students from the Shepherd University music department.
The 167th Airlift Wing honor guard of the West Virginia Air National Guard and classes from the Sharpsburg Elementary School will also participate.
All veterans and the public are invited to attend.
Photographer to speak at library
U.S. Senate photographer Janie Moltrup will speak at the Sharpsburg Library Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.
Moltrup has photographed presidential inaugurations, dignitary arrivals, joint sessions of Congress, and has met countless people from around the world. She will display photographs representing her time at the Senate and will also answer questions.

St. Luke’s to hold spaghetti dinner
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, at 2150 Boteler Road in Brownsville, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner Saturday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The menu includes spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, tossed salad, homemade cake/pie and iced tea or coffee. The meal costs $6 for adult, $3 for children and is free for those younger than 5; there is a discount for active and retired military. A bake sale table and Longaberger basket raffle will be available.

Museum to sponsor breakfast buffet
The Washington County Agricultural Education Center and Rural Heritage Museum will sponsor a country breakfast buffet Saturday, Nov. 12, from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at the Ag Center’s multipurpose building.
The menu includes sausage, bacon, hunter’s stew, scrambled eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes, juice, milk, coffee and tea.
The meal costs $10 for adults, $7 for those 65 and older and $5 for those ages 6 to 12. Those 5 and younger eat free.
Proceeds will benefit the museum’s blacksmith shop and future transportation museum.

Books for Babies contest to begin in November
The “Reading to Make Cents” contest to raise money for Books for Babies contest will be held the week of Nov. 13 to 20. Students will be bringing home white fliers with bright green print.
The money will be used to buy books that will be included in a book packet presented to each newborn at Meritus Medical Center.
