According to Gold's Gym, the fittest president in American history is John Quincy Adams.
The gym did an analysis of U.S. presidents through the years using the fitness routines of each of the 43 men who held the post.
Adams won because he apparently walked more than three miles each day and sent swimming in the Potomac river. The nation's sixth president also lived until the age of 80.
Second on the list was current President George Bush, who is said to exercise six days a week and avoids alcohol and cigarettes.
Next was Gerald Ford, who turned down a professional football for a career in politics.
Fourth was Jimmy Carter, who hunts, fishes, skis and climbs mountains.
