Shirley Kretz is like millions of women--fighting the effects of aging every step of the way.
"You know I exercise three to four times a week and I just can't seem to get rid of that excess skin on my stomach after having two children," Shirley said.
She tried for a year-and-a-half and decided to let technology do what diet and exercise couldn't.
She went to Skintastic in Dallas, TX to try Tripollar-the newest in a line of non- invasive radio frequency tools.
Thermo graphic imaging shows the device heating Shirley's stomach to between 42 and 44 celsius.
Tripollar is billed as pain free and Shirley agreed-- although she said it did feel a bit warm.
"It feels like you're having a massage just on your stomach," Shirley said.
Tripollar is FDA cleared for the treatment of mild to moderate facial wrinkles. Shirley is using it off label—on her stomach-- after seeing before and after results
Dr. Jeffrey Adelglass said Tripollar isn’t about losing weight but rather smoothing and sculpting skin.
"A number of women through yo-yo dieting, through having babies, through hormones, their skin stretches out, “ Dr. Adelglass said. “Their skin isn't as tight as it used to be and this gives them back that appearance."
Dr. Adelglass said Tripollar works by heating collagen in the tissue which plumps up skin by speeding up collagen production.
Studies found the treatment to be safe with no significant changes in liver function or lipid profile.
Shirley did her own research and decided Tripollar was right for her.
"Well, I think my other alternative is a tummy tuck so if you look at comparing prices and what's more cost effective this is also pain free and as a working mom,” Shirley said. “This gets me back to work faster."
Shirley will undergo six or seven treatments each lasting about 25 minutes.
Dr. Adelglass said treatment plans cost a little more $2,000.00 the more areas treated the more it costs.
For Shirley it’s worth every penny.
“I want to look like a supermodel," Shirley said with a hearty laugh. "I want to look fabulous at 40!"
