4th Annual Chef Showdown Culinary Competition
October 2, 6 - 9pm.
NTC Promenade in Point Loma at Luce Court and Legacy Plaza.
In classic "Iron Chef" style, two teams of talented San Diego chefs will create delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts for a panel of celebrity judges, including distinguished local food critics. Amazing weekend trips and getaways will be up on the auction block, including a prestigious spot on our judging panel. All proceeds will benefit the domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention programs and services for the Center for Community Solutions. The German American Society Oktoberfest

MCRD Bootcamp Challenge

If the thought of an obstacle course made up of trenches, tunnels, cargo nets, push up stations, hay jumps and over 50 other obstacles wasn't scary enough, runners will also have to contend with sixty hard core Marine Drill Instructors "staffing" the course and "pushing", "driving" and "encouraging" the runners to go to their limits and beyond. For those who've run the Bootcamp Challenge before they've had one thing to say, "Awesome!" For those who haven't, they'll find it's one of the funnest and most memorable times they'll have all year. Floresta Planting Hope Gala

On Saturday, October 4, come celebrate Floresta and make a difference worldwide. For the 21st year, this international nonprofit organization hosts its annual banquet fundraiser. The Planting Hope Gala will feature exciting silent and live auctions, fine food, live entertainment and inspiring stories from Floresta's work in Haiti, Tanzania, Mexico, Thailand and the Dominican Republic.
