LOS ANGELES—Move over Arnold, there's another celebrity in the race for governor in California.
Prince Frederic von Anhalt, the husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, is announcing his intention to run as a liberal independent candidate Monday.
Von Anhalt, 67, whose platform is "Return to the Good Life in California" is unveilling a billboard on Sunset Boulevard at 11:00 a.m.
He released the following statement:
"When I came to California 26 years ago we had the 'Good Life.' We were prosperous; people had jobs, affordable homes and money to spend. The economy was great. I loved the state so much that I decided to make my home here, marry and become a citizen."
"About 10 years ago things started to deteriorate, and last year when the state was at its worst I decided I had to try and make a difference. I decided to enter the political realm and get California back on the right track."
"So today I am announcing that I plan to run for Governor of California! We've had Irish-American, African-American, Armenian-American, and Austrian-American Governors and now it's time for a German-American to lead the state."
Here are some highlights of von Anhalt's platform.
Create a Sin Tax: Legalize marijuana and tax it.
Open the border with Mexico: Let in more workers, then tax them.
Adjust DMV Fees: He says DMV fees are outrageous and hurt the "working class." Von Anhalt proposes taxing bad drivers.
Eliminate our need for Oil; He wants mandatordy solar panels on every new building.
Overturn Prop 8: Throw divorce lawyers "a bone" and quiet the "gays." He says he believes in marrigate between an man and women, but also defends the constitution which says equal rights for all. "Let them be as miserable as the rest of us."
Lift Ban on Cuban Cigars

Von Anhalt is used to having his name in the news. He married Gabor in the mid-1980s.
In 2007, he claimed he was the biological father of Anna Nicole Smith's infant daughter.
Later that year, LAPD officers found him naked and handcuffed to the steering wheel of a 2006 Rolls Royce. Von Anhalt told officers that he was driving when "three white women" with a gun took his jewelry and clothes.
There has been speculation regarding whether Prince von Anhalt is actually a prince. According to reports, he was born Robert Lichtenberg, the son of a German policeman and bought his title after being adopted as an adult by a bankrupt daughter-in-law of the last kaiser.
