SANTA CLARA -- A laid-off worker returned to his former office and fatally shot three people Friday, police said.

Santa Clara police are searching for 47-year-old Jing Wu of Mountain View in connection with the shooting.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. at a complex in Santa Clara, west of San Jose, said police Lt. Mike Sellers.

Police answering a call of multiple shots arrived at the office, at 3255-7 Scott Blvd., and found two men and one woman shot dead, apparently with a handgun, Lt. Mike Sellers said.

No other injuries were reported.

Sellers said Wu had apparently been laid off from the business at that address either this morning or Thursday, describing it as a possible motive for the slayings.

Police won't release the name of the company that had apparently laid him off.

However the address is the same one listed for semiconductor startup Siport.

A man with the same name as Wu appears in Siport's company directory.

Sellers says Wu is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds and may have been driving a silver Mountaineer SUV.

About 40 officers were combing the area.
