Susan Clark’s brother-in-law, Victor Saracini, was the captain of United Flight 175.
Flight 175 is the flight that crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2011.
Ten years later, Susan talks about the pain this has brought to her and her family, “It was the worst feeling I ever had in my life. It seems like forever… it seems like a long time. But it also is so fresh and so raw… we miss him terribly.”
Clark’s a longtime Sacramento resident. She went to the Capitol lawn Friday morning, to put the first flag on the city’s 9/11 Memorial next to her brother-in-law’s name.
The city’s memorial includes all 2, 977 names of those killed during the attacks. One flag will be posted for each victim.
Local firefighters helped make this memorial happen. Next week they will be holding a climb and 5k run where participants will replace the remaining flags in their holders.
Clark will be in New York for the ten-year remembrance at Ground Zero. She says you never get over the pain, but learn to live with it. And memorials like Sacramento’s, urge others to never forget as well.
