Some Sacramento area doctors' offices tell FOX40 they are seeing a steady influx of patients who have the streptococcal infection. Symptoms include fever and a severe sore throat. Runny nose and coughing, however, are more symptomatic of a cold or flu.
Strep throat is
easy for doctors to diagnose, and it's easily treated with antibiotics. The
flip side is that it's also easy to spread through close contact with people who
are infected. Doctors recommend frequent hand washing, and using disinfectant
wipes on work surfaces.
