SACRAMENTO—Sacramento will celebrate culture and the arts with a day of free admission to 26 local museums.
The yearly event is hosted by the Sacramento Association of Museums to get people out to enjoy the city's unique art, history, science and wildlife all at no cost.
Sacramento Museum Day has been around for 13 years and will happen on February 5th this year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last year more than 85,000 people took advantage of the free admission.
"Sacramento Museum Day offers the perfect opportunity for everyone to visit a museum they haven't before -- or return to an old favorite -- to gain new appreciation for or a fresh perspective about our region, our state, and our world," said Sacramento Association of Museums Chairman Paul Hammond in a press release.
If you don't have transportation between museums or just don't want to drive around town, there will be free shuttle rides between participating museums with a central transfer point located at 10th and O streets.
Participating museums include:
Aerospace Museum of California
California Automobile Museum
California Foundry History Museum
California State Military Museum
California State Capitol Museum
The California Museum
California State Indian Museum
