Twin Rivers Unified Board Members have voted to close Harmon Johnson Elementary in Sacramento after a nearby PG&E gas pipeline was found to be a safety risk for students and staff that attended the school.The district held a meeting today where they shared the results in a risk assesment report provided by an engineering firm.
Students will return from Thanksgiving vacation November 29th and attend classes at Harmon Johnson for three weeks until school gets out December 17th.
The more than 500 students and 30 staff members will resume classes on January 4th at nearby Las Palmas School.
Las Palmas currently serves a a preschool and adult school. Those classes will be relocated somewhere else.
