Sally Field’s Malibu home for sale for $6.95 million
It was amply established in her 1985 Oscar acceptance speech that we really, really like Sally Field. Now it’s just a matter of finding someone who would really, really like to buy the Malibu house she just listed at $6.95 million.
The ocean-view house belonging to the Academy Award winner has five bedrooms and six bathrooms in 5,964 square feet.
The two-story ranch-style home sits on 3 secluded acres and has separate guest quarters. There is a pool, lighted tennis court, a three-stall horse paddock and direct access to riding trails on more than 2,000 acres of park land.
The home, built in 1958 and previously owned by Olivia Newton-John, has an updated gourmet kitchen, a private master bedroom wing and a media room.
For three years, Field, 62, has played Nora Walker in “Brothers & Sisters.” She had a recurring role on the TV hospital drama “ER” from 2000 to ’06.
Her big-screen work includes playing Mrs. Gump in the 1994 movie “Forrest Gump,” as well as her Oscar-winning roles in “Places in the Heart” (1984) and “Norma Rae” (1979). Among her earliest roles, she starred as “Gidget” in the mid-’60s.

Sale may be the RX for ‘ER’s’ end
There are actors who, after playing the same character for so long, simply become that character in the public’s mind. After 190 episodes of being “ER’s” Abby Lockhart -- first nurse, then doctor -- actress Maura Tierney is putting down her stethoscope and putting up a for-sale sign: She has listed her Hancock Park-area home for sale at $2,195,000. She owns another property in Venice.
The 3,051-square-foot Craftsman that she listed has been restored while maintaining period details. There is a two-story guesthouse, pool and spa. The chef’s kitchen has stainless-steel appliances and custom cabinetry. Period built-ins distinguish the dining room. There is a balcony off the master bedroom suite, and the living room has a fireplace and French doors that open on to a wooden deck. Outdoors, there is a brick patio area with fireplace.
The home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and was built in 1913.
Tierney, 44, has spent the last decade on “ER,” which is in its final season. She played Caroline in “Baby Mama” in 2008 and also had roles that year in “Finding Amanda” and “Semi-Pro.”

Caped hero lists his Cape Cod
When the voice of Superman speaks, I know I listen. George Newbern, who voiced the Man of Steel in the animated TV adventures “Justice League” and “The Batman,” among others, has listed his Cheviot Hills Cape Cod at $2,095,000.
The two-story house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms in 3,250 square feet. The home is set high up on a knoll, providing city lights and a greenbelt view. Diet guru’s son aims to shed home
Bruce Somers Jr. -- the son of the age-defying, menopause-stomping, fitness and self-help guru Suzanne Somers -- has listed his Brentwood home for $3,295,000.
Somers wrote and produced several of his mom’s videos, including “Somersize Part 1, Suzanne Somers: Eat Great, Lose Weight” and “Somersize Part 2, Suzanne Somers: Think Great, Look Great.” Now if only there were a sequel in which you could eat a Somersized pizza and still look like his mama.
The house, French Normandy in style with four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 3,304 square feet, has a vine-and-rose-covered entry.

Sale pans out for the chef
Update: Campanile Restaurant owner and chef Mark Peel and his wife, Daphne Brogdon, have sold their Windsor Square house for $3.25 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service. It was most recently listed at $3,299,000.
Peel, who was head chef of Spago when it opened in 1982, paid about $3.1 million for the Mediterranean last year. The 1920 house had been extensively remodeled.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home has 3,966 square feet and a kitchen befitting a chef of Peel’s caliber.
Peel, cofounder of La Brea Bakery, is the author of several cookbooks. Brogdon hosts the TV Guide Channel’s series “The Fashion Team.” She also created CoolMom.com.
