Saddleback (2-1) committed three turnovers on defense but held on for the shutout at Santa Ana Stadium. Fullback Chris Washington scored on a two-yard run and Jerry Resendiz kicked field goals of 20 and 25 yards for Saddleback. Santa Ana Valley fell to 0-3.
San Dimas 17, Bellflower 14
Senior Shawn Boaz scored all 17 points for host San Dimas (3-0). Boaz broke a 14-14 tie with a 20-yard field goal with 39 seconds remaining in the game to cap a 90-yard, fourth-quarter drive on the game's last possession.
Boaz also scored both touchdowns for the Saints, on receptions of 44 and three yards, and kicked both extra points. On defense Boaz intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards from his safety position.
San Marino 35, Alhambra 21
Junior quarterback Chris Yortsos, making his first start of the season, completed 12 of 17 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Titans to a home victory. Senior Geoff Wright, who had been out after suffering a broken jaw in the season opener against Gabrielino, caught all four scoring passes of 20, 27, eight and 30 yards and finished with five receptions for 107 total yards. San Marino (1-2) lead 35-7 until Alhambra (2-1) scored two touchdowns to close the gap in the final four minutes.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 17, Palmdale 15
Kai Forbaith hit a 36-yard field goal with 25 seconds remaining in the game to lift No. 5-ranked Notre Dame at Palmdale. Greg Gallucci caught a 48-yard touchdown pass for the Knights (3-0), which led 14-0 at halftime. Palmdale (1-2) rallied to score 15 unanswered points to take a 15-14 lead in the final period before Forbath's game-winning field goal.
South Pasadena 28, Glendale 14
Senior Michael Stimpsel completed 14 of 24 passes for 99 yards, including touchdown throws of 39 and 15 yards, and also scored on a six-yard run for host South Pasadena (2-0-1). Glendale is 0-3.
Webb 20, Ribet Academy 19
The visiting Gauls (1-1) held off Ribet twice in the final minutes to earn the victory on the road. The Fighting Frogs scored a touchdown with 1:20 left to close within 20-19, but failed on a two-point conversion attempt. Ribet got the ball back in good field position after Webb had a bad snap out of punt formation, but a Frog field goal attempt went wide left.
Whittier Christian 49, Brethren Christian 27
Brethren Christian (2-1) had a productive night offensively but its defense struggled in its loss at Clark Field in Long Beach. Senior receiver Jeremy Knepper caught six passes for 69 yards, including a 11-yard scoring pass, while rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown. Martin Sims also grabbed a 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Garrick Connor, who was 11 for 25 for 124 yards and two TDs for the Warriors. Whittier Christian improved to 3-1.
