1. Addiction Bistro serves gluten-free fried chicken, cupcakes and more

This year I think we’ll break our Father's Day habit of staying close to home and take my husband to the Addiction Bistro, a little café on La Cienega Boulevard that serves burgers and sausages, chili and ice cream.

3. Duck fat, lamb sausage, bittersweet chocolate at a North Hollywood warehouse sale

The anticipation outside Epicure Imports on Saturday morning was as thick as the French accents inside. Customers of the gourmet warehouse sale, which happens seven times a year, lined up in this industrial part of North Hollywood well before they would be let in, like teens at a rave -- except here, instead of a DJ, it was the late-arriving truffle-butter vendor who cut through the fawning crowd.

7. Jonathan Gold recommends: 13 great tacos in Southern California

Tacos - can we ever have enough tacos in our lives? I didn't think so. Because when the taco is right, the birds start to sing and the stars shine more brightly and you have the impression that everything is right with the world, which is a lot of happiness for a buck and a quarter, a buck-fifty tops. A perfect taco is a gift to the universe.

13. Wine of the Week: 2011 Jean Foillard Morgon 'Côte du Py'

I could drink a bottle of this Morgon "Côte du Py" from Jean Foillard every week with the greatest of pleasure. How beautiful is the bottle, with its red wax seal? The wine itself is soft and unctuous, tasting of prunes and dried cherries, a voluptuous cru Beaujolais made with painstaking care. The organically farmed vines from the famed "Côte du Py" range from 10 all the way up to 90 years of age. This is a very serious Gamay.
This post has been corrected, as indicated below.

19. New sausage double beef burger at McDonald's China

We're known in the good ol' U.S.A. for monster portions and outrageous fast-food creations. If there is a crust, we'll stuff it. Bored with regular taco shells, we use nacho cheese Doritos. But we're nowhere near China's level of gluttony.

21. Where to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in L.A. area — no blarney

Mistakes are the portals of discovery. At least that's what James Joyce, one of Ireland's most famous writers — and a notorious drinker — once said. The phrase rings particularly true on St. Patrick's Day, the saucy Irish holiday that is marked by an epic consumption of alcohol and plenty of corned beef and cabbage. To honor Joyce, we make the annual mistake of drinking too much and discover that we wake up feeling green. Here are some of our favorite places to make those mistakes and many others this Sunday — framed by the back of a cab, of course.

23. The pleasures of Texas barbecue

Everyone has their own iconic food -- not just a food they really like, or even really love, but a food around which the world turns. For me, it’s barbecue. And not just any barbecue, but Texas barbecue.
