$28M Coral Gables Lotto winner won't retire - yet

A Coral Gables man who won the Florida Lotto's $28 million jackpot won't yet retire, lottery officials said. John Liappas, 63, chose a lump sum payment of $19.1 million and, instead, will ease into retirement over the next year before traveling to Europe with his wife. Lottery officials did not know Liappas' occupation. Liappas has been playing the lottery since its inception in 1988. He told lottery officials that he will continue buying tickets for future drawings. Liappas bought the winning ticket from the Publix at 1401 Monza Avenue in Coral Gables.
