On Thursday, the left-hander walked the leadoff batter in the sixth inning. He then gave up hits to two of the next three batters he faced. All three came around to score, which gave the Dodgers the lead for good.
I'm not saying there's no chance Hamels will re-sign with the Phillies. He never said he wouldn't negotiate during the season (like Albert Pujols last year), so who knows? The Phillies could offer him a contract extension next week that he's happy enough with to sign on the dotted line.
But I'm not counting on it.
The things he said he wanted in a team seem to be things of the past. And his teammates aren't getting any younger or any healthier. In fact, the youngest guy, 22-year-old Freddy Galvis --- was recently diagnosed with a pars fracture in his back and could find himself in a brace for six weeks.
Nothing that's gone on this season bodes well for a Hamels return in 2013.
Probably not what you wanted to hear.
Just a friendly reminder: Please don't shoot the messenger.
