Youngwoong Jang's 3-D animated short Mirage is a pretty, cryptic parable about water and "collecting" that is open to a couple of interpretations.

A "bio-mechanic robot" (a boy with a metal body) flits hither and yon in his underwater world, harvesting droplets of fresh water that keep him going.

He plucks "flowers" that have a precious drop each.

And then he discovers something with all the water he could want. The only problem? A goldfish lives in it and can't survive without it.

Mirage is a visually striking film that obscures its meaning, but there's a sentimental streak that gives all this tech, on and behind the screen, some heart.
