The Magic’s starting point guard did not participate in Orlando’s shootaround this morning because he has a strained hamstring and groin (and, possibly, a sore ankle).
His availability for tonight’s game will be determined closer to tipoff.
“I’ve just got to be smart about it,” Nelson said a short while ago. “I’ve been through a lot of injuries small and big. So I just have to be smart and be honest like I was today and yesterday with the training staff.”
Nelson did not practice Saturday either.
Coach Jacque Vaughn would not disclose his starting lineup when asked about it today. Vaughn, like some other coaches in the NBA, views it as a potential competitive disadvantage to name his starters following shootarounds and, sometimes, during his pregame availability with the press.
