Bright House Networks officials fixed the cable outage that affected some of its Central Florida customers.

"The boxes that were taking longer to reboot after the network performance upgrade was complete are now coming back online," Bright House spokesman Donald Forbes said. "We want customers to know we make enhancements to the network during the very early hours of the morning to avoid any negative customer impact and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

Forbes said some customers affected by the cable outage might need to reboot their cable boxes. "Simply unplug from the electrical outlet, wait a few seconds, and then plug back in," he said.

The cable company's software upgrade this morning knocked out service to residents in DeLand and Orlando. Officials said some cable boxes were taking longer to update and reconnect to the service.

Customers had contacted the Orlando Sentinel saying their television screens showed an error message, while others went blank.

The cable company suffered a similar outage during a software upgrade in Sept. 2012 when the telecommunications giant updated their on-screen channel display.
