Opa-locka Monsignor Pace linebacker Robert Jones first visited UCF last December.
He loved everything about the campus and program then, but he was even more impressed with the school after attending UCF's junior day Saturday.
Jones (6-0, 205) said he talked to linebackers coach Tyson Summers and defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan, his primary recruiter, about how the coaching staff viewed him.
"They're going to come in the spring to personally evaluate me," Jones said. "They said I am on their board for 2013 linebackers.
I'm not sure exactly where I stand yet, but I know I'm on the board."
Jones said he expects the Knights to send several coaches to his high school spring practice to further evaluate him.
He is also planning on attending FIU and FAU's junior days, as well as a USF practice within the next month.
Jones, a high-motor, fundamentally-sound linebacker and self-described "perfect tackler," feels that FIU is close to becoming the first school to offer him.
"I'd have to say FIU is really feeling me the most," Jones said. "They said they were going to offer, but it hasn't happened yet, but eventually they are."
However, FIU, and all other programs, would likely take a backseat to UCF if the Knights eventually offer Jones.
Jones said: "Honestly, the first time I stepped foot on UCF's campus in December 2011, I already told myself that if they offer, I will commit."
