You can head almost any direction out of Orlando on Friday, April 12, and find your way to an art event. I would recommend the following itinerary to experience the most fun, variety and art:
Start at 5:30 p.m. with a stop at the 1350 West Gallery (1350 W. Fairbanks Ave., Winter Park, 407-644-1784), inside the Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home. This group show will include works by the very much alive Orlando equine sculptor Mindy Colton. Less than 10 minutes north is the Maitland Art Center (210 W. Packwood Ave., 407-539-2181) and its monthly Culture & Cocktails happening, 6-9 p.m. Friday night's featured artist is artist/illustrator Anna Bond. Also on view will be works by Central Florida area high-school seniors taking art classes for college credit. The $5 admission (free to members) includes a beverage and live entertainment by the Cook Trio. You'll still have time to head 10 minutes north to Casselberry City Hall (95 Triplet Lake Drive, 407-262-7700) and chose your dinner from 14 food trucks, listen to an al fresco jazz concert by Jeff Rupert and stroll the many art booths (jewelry, paintings, ceramics, photography and more) in the park until 9 p.m.

"Fragments" exposes the artist's views on the environment and society. At CityArts Factory (29 S. Orange Ave.), view art in its eight galleries by Orange County's art teachers; the students and staff at International Academy of Design and Technology; the 25-30 artists who painted live during March at Sam Flax; and the must-see, fantastical paintings by Cake Marques.
