The newspaper report stated a UCF staff member stepped in between the two to break things up.
"My head was to his chest, so it wasn't like I was going to do anything," Ybarra told the El Paso Times. "Then as the UCF assistant pulled him away, he reached over and pushed my head back."
A UCF Athletics Association spokesman confirmed a situation occurred with a fan.
"A member of the UCF coaching staff was present when a fan initiated an incident with a UCF student-athlete following a game," UCF basketball spokesman Doug Richards said. "The staff member quickly intervened before the situation escalated."
In the wake of the incident, UCF has contacted Conference USA about security at UTEP games.
